The Faith Formation (CCD) program at Sacred Heart Church is founded on the belief that learning to live our Catholic faith happens at home with our families, at Mass with our parish community, and through participation in a parish-based faith formation program or through participation in a Catholic education. We strive to provide opportunities for children to encounter Jesus and come to know and love him. Children will embrace a daily prayer life and understand that prayer is an intimate conversation with Jesus, learn the beliefs and traditions of the Catholic faith, participate in weekly mass celebrating the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and prepare to receive the sacramental graces Jesus has given us.
Our Faith Formation program is for children in grades 1–12 who are Baptized and at least six years old. At Sacred Heart Church, children are organized in small community groups by age ranges, unlike school which is typically organized by grade levels. These Communities for Catholic Disciples will most often stay together each year fostering a lifelong fellowship through love of Jesus Christ.
Meet Our Catechists / Catequistas
Catechists are practicing Catholics and are most often parish members who have been called to serve our parish community by sharing the Catholic faith with our parish children. They are volunteers who meet the qualifications as required by The Most Reverend Bishop Caggiano including Virtus training and ongoing faith formation.
